Halloween

The holiday of treats and tricks is approaching and we are celebrating Sri Lankan Style. We will be having a party at the ISLE center and our costumes are to be Sri Lankan themed. In years past, people have gone as the military, the president, Sri Lankan brides, Coconuts, Eggplants, Veddha people, etc.

My plan, at first, was to dress as one of the Hindi soap stars that we all watch at home with our families, but other than the crazy music and horrid acting, there would be nothing to distinguish me. So, Plan B - or better plan I guess I should say.

I have decided to go as a Sri Lankan nurse. Now, at first this may sound scandalous coming from a culture that uses Halloween as an excuse to dress up in extremely revealing costumes - but that it the irony. Not only is the Sri Lankan nurse's uniform not slutty - it is out of the 1940's!

Here is a photo:

So I will go to a seamstress and get the outfit made (which is really cheap actually) and all I have to buy is white shoes! Nice huh?
